LA FEMME ARTISTE
“I want to celebrate women’s capacity to overcome.” (Shirin Neshat)
This blog is dedicated to women, to la femme artiste, to women in the arts. I want to write about artists I am interested in or who inspire me in one or the other way. It doesn’t matter if the work is in the field of literature, music or visual arts. I do not want to write as an “art critic” or “art historian”, I am writing as an artist about another artist, about my thoughts and feelings.
Starting point is my short experimental video “La femme artiste” where I interviewed female artists in New York and Vienna.
I also want to invite other women to write about different subjects in the art. I am interested in the dialogue between artists – between biographies that began on opposite sides and are crossing over into each other’s frame of reference and understanding. I see this as a productive moment – the exchange of thoughts and knowledge.
At the end of the year, I would like to make a printed edition as a summary of the blog.
